Covid-19 Vaccination Programme
A new vaccinations marketing campaign has launched promoting the uptake of the COVID-19 booster vaccine with recent advice from the expert JCVI triggering an expansion of the national booster programme making all adults (18+) eligible. New guidance has also been issued advising that booster doses can now be administered with a minimum of three months between their primary doses and their booster. This was offered in response to the emergence of the Omicron variant, to ensure those eligible receive the best possible protection. All adults (18+) in the UK will be offered a booster by end of January 2022 and the NHS will contact people when it is their turn, in order of age.
Materials to communicate progress on the Covid-19 vaccines
Vaccines are the best way to protect people from coronavirus and will save thousands of lives. Three vaccines have now been approved for use in the UK and the government has secured early access to more than 450 million vaccine doses through agreements with eight of the most promising vaccine candidates.
The UK COVID-19 vaccine rollout is the biggest vaccination programme in NHS history. The goal remains to vaccinate as many people as quickly as possible, with the prioritisation guided by advice from the Joint Committee on Vaccination and Immunisation (JCVI). The JCVI are the independent experts who advise the government on which vaccine/s the UK should use and provide advice on who should be offered the vaccination first.
The government aims to provide advice and information at every possible opportunity to support those getting the vaccine and to anyone who might have questions about the vaccination process. These resources are available to support your communications.
